“Rush” and “Thor 2” leading man Chris Hemsworth will lend his star power to this year’s Oscar nominations, joining Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Cheryl Boone Isaacs in announcing the nominees on Thursday morning.

The nominations will be announced bright and early at 5:38 a.m. at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

This year’s news conference promises to be a tamer affair than last year, when comedian and Oscars host Seth MacFarlane took the opportunity to test out some material, only to have his jokes land with a thud. MacFarlane was only the second Oscar host to read the nominations, after Charlton Heston in 1972.
