Grammys 2014: Lorde is ‘darkly cool’ in deep purple makeup
Lorde’s usual beauty look tends to teeter into goth territory and at Sunday’s Grammy Awards she opted for a deep purple lip and shimmery translucent skin that was more dark fairy tale than vamp.
Her makeup was done by MAC Cosmetics senior artist Amber Dreadon, who says she “wanted to keep the look fresh and radiant -- modern, a bit boyish and darkly cool with a focus on the lips.”
To achieve Lorde’s pretty-haunting look, Dreadon started with MAC Cosmetics Strobe Cream and Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 foundation over the singer’s face.
She added depth to the eyes with Fluidline eyeliner in Blacktrack and glimmer to the lids with Cream Colour Base eye shadow in a white-ish shade called Pearl.
And for those dark and intense lips, Dreadon mixed two MAC Cosmetics lipsticks: Heroine, a vivid purple color, and Cyber, a brownish-purple shade to darken the hue.
A lip pencil called Vino gave Lorde’s lips definition and helped the statement-making mouth last longer.
