Global sports marketing firm Infront takes majority stake in Omnigon
Switzerland-based marketing firm Infront Sports & Media has acquired a majority stake in Omnigon, which specializes in developing digital content distribution platforms for teams, leagues and entertainment companies.
The move announced Tuesday by the two companies builds on a strategic partnership formed in October and collaborated on digitial projects for the Serie A Italian football league and German Football Associations’s DFB Cup. Infront will now have 51% ownership in Omnigon, which has a client list that includes the PGA Tour, NASCAR and the NBA’s Miami Heat.
Omnigon also developed the app for the 2015 Rugby World Cup, which was downloaded more than 3 million times across 204 countries, according to the company.
Through the new ownership agreement, Omnigon will expand on its existing global operations while providing its expertise to Infront. The New York-based company will continue to operate as a free-standing entity led by its current management team, headed by CEO Igor Ulis.
Infront Sports & Media, based in Zug, Switzerland and led by President and CEO Philippe Blatter, manages distribution of media rights, sponsorship, media production and event operations for various leagues around the world.
