Fox News wins week in basic cable’s prime-time ratings
Tension in Eastern Europe and an airliner mystery brought Fox News a weekly win in basic-cable ratings.
Fox News Channel drew more total viewers than its basic-cable rivals in prime time as attention turned to the situation between Ukraine and Russia and the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane.
Fox averaged about 2.05 million viewers from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. for the week that ended Sunday, according to Nielsen Media Research, beating the 1.91 million who watched USA and the 1.9 million who tuned in to History.

A weekly ratings win is rare for Fox News, though big news events sometimes push the network over the top. The last time was the week of President Obama’s State of the Union address earlier this year, preceded by the Boston Marathon bombing in April of last year.
AMC, which has cable’s most-watched show “The Walking Dead” (12.9 million), was fourth with 1.8 million viewers on average.
Fellow cable-news channels CNN and MSNBC ranked 22nd and 27th, respectively.
In whole-day ratings, Fox News ranked third, behind Nickelodeon and Adult Swim.
The Tuesday “O’Reilly Factor” was the most-watched Fox News telecast, drawing 2.96 million viewers and ranking 34th among basic-cable shows. Tuesday’s “The Kelly File” with Megyn Kelly cracked the weekly top 50 for the second time ever.
