Same-day viewership is no ceiling for “Under the Dome.”

Underscoring the changing viewing habits of TV watchers, more than 6 million people have seen the first episode of CBS’ “Under the Dome” after its air date, either through DVR, video-on-demand or online.

Adding to the same-day numbers for the June 24 premiere, the new figures bring the total audience to 19.9 million. The show, based on the Stephen King book about a small town trapped under a mysterious, transparent dome, drew 13.5 million viewers in its debut, according to Nielsen.

CBS said 4.23 million people watched the episode with digital video recording devices in the week after the show aired and 1.6 million used video-on-demand services within 22 days. In addition, nearly half-a-million streamed the episode online using CBS.com or pay-TV distributor websites.

The streaming tally did not include data from Amazon.com Inc.’s Prime Instant Video service, which lets subscribers view episodes of the show for four days after the original broadcast.

The stats increased the premiere’s key 18-49 demographic rating to 6.1 from 4.5. One point equals about 1.3 million viewers.
