20th Century Fox taps Marc Weinstock to head domestic film marketing
Marc Weinstock has been hired by 20th Century Fox Film as its new president of domestic theatrical marketing, the company said Wednesday.
Weinstock previously served as Sony Pictures Entertainment’s head of domestic and international marketing. He was fired from that post in September.
Weinstock begins work at 20th Century Fox on Monday. He reports to Paul Hanneman and Tomas Jegeus, the studio’s co-presidents of worldwide theatrical marketing and distribution.

“[Weinstock] has proven time and again that he has tremendous strategic vision and creative flair; and as we form a truly global marketing and distribution operation, we know that he will lead and inspire our talented domestic marketing team, while working hand in hand with their international colleagues as we release our most varied and commercial slates ever in 2014 and beyond,” Hanneman and Jegeus said in a statement.
In October, 20th Century Fox fired its chief marketing officer, Oren Aviv. He had shared the title of president of theatrical marketing with Tony Sella, who resigned shortly after Aviv was let go. Sella had also served as the studio’s chief creative officer.
As part of the restructuring that involved Aviv’s ouster, Hanneman and Jegeus were promoted to their current posts. They had previously served as co-presidents of 20th Century Fox International.
Weinstock had been Sony Pictures’ head of domestic and international marketing from 2009 until his exit it September. Previously he had overseen marketing for Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems label.
“It’s a thrilling time to be at Fox as the studio builds the industry’s premier global marketing and distribution organization,” Weinstock said in a statement. “I look forward to working with my new colleagues on what looks to be a fantastic slate of films for the coming years.”
