A hipster Obama? Indeed, thanks to DesignCrowd’s latest contest

Their previous contests inspired graphic artists to imagine Disney characters as cast members of “Orange Is the New Black” or to dream up the best uses for North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un’s hair. Now Alec Lynch and Adam Arbolino, co-founders of the Australia-based crowd-sourcing site DesignCrowd, have asked the impossible: Make the likes of John Kerry and Rand Paul look cool.

DesignCrowd’s latest exercise in extreme Photoshopping called for entrants to give politicians a hipster makeover. About 70 entries spanned the hipster spectrum: Silver Lake Barack sporting skinny jeans, boho-chic scarf and fingerless gloves (nicely played, Mr. President), Nancy Pelosi rocking the camouflage and Colin Powell, who roughs up his tidy J.Crew-esque ensemble with a tatted-up arm peeking out from under that rolled-up slim-fit sleeve. Our fave: Condoleezza Rice, looking like she’s fresh from blogging the Renegade Craft Fair, accompanied by a George W. Bush whose orange fedora and rainbow-hued pocket square has us wondering if he’s traded his Texas ranch for a Highland Park art walk.
