Ready for another celebrity art show? This one comes with a New Wave rock twist and some distinctive eyewear.

Mark Mothersbaugh -- the polymath musician and artist, best known for the band Devo -- will be the subject of a retrospective that will launch at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver in October and will tour the country, with a planned stop at the Santa Monica Museum of Art in 2016.

“Mark Mothersbaugh: Myopia” is scheduled to run Oct. 31 to Feb. 15, 2015, in Denver. The exhibition will feature a career survey of Mothersbaugh’s art and music, from the early ‘70s to the present. The tour will take the show to cities including Minneapolis; Cincinnati; Austin, Texas; and New York.

A stop at the Santa Monica Museum of Art is scheduled to begin in August 2016 and run for about four months. The exact dates of the Santa Monica leg of the tour weren’t announced.

The exhibition is curated by Adam Lerner, the director of the MCA Denver. The museum said that the show will include documentation and music from Mothersbaugh’s Devo days; prints, drawings, paintings, sculptures, rugs and video animations; performances; newly produced musical and sculptural installations; and a lifelong series of postcard-sized works that will be exhibited in its entirety.

Mothersbaugh has long pursued visual art alongside his music career, and he has exhibited his art in galleries. In addition to being the frontman for Devo, he has written music for the screen, including the cable series “House of Lies” and the Wes Anderson movie “Rushmore.”
