Taylor Swift fans are already freaking out about her surprise new album

It’s a good day to be a Swiftie.

Global pop phenom Taylor Swift has announced that her eighth studio album, “Folklore,” will debut at 9 p.m. Pacific tonight. She also released a track list of 16 songs, including “Exile,” featuring Bon Iver, “The 1,” “Cardigan” and “The Last Great American Dynasty.”

“Most of the things I had planned for the summer didn’t end up happening, but there is something that DID happen,” Swift said early Thursday in a statement shared on social media. “I’ll be releasing my entire brand new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears and musings into. I wrote and recorded this music in isolation but got to collaborate with some musical heroes of mine ...

“Before this year, I probably would’ve overthought when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time, but the times we’re living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed. My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world. That’s the side of uncertainty I can get on board with.”

But wait, there’s more. A music video for “Cardigan” — written and directed by Swift — will also be released at the time of the album launch. In a follow-up statement, the “Lover” hitmaker explained that production on the project was “overseen by a medical inspector” while “everyone wore masks” and “stayed away from each other.”

“I even did my own hair, makeup, and styling,” Swift added, with a crying-laughing emoji.

Rounding out the collection are “My Tears Ricochet,” “Mirrorball,” “Seven,” “August,” “This Is Me Trying,” “Illicit Affairs,” “Invisible String,” “Mad Woman,” “Epiphany,” “Betty,” “Peace” and “Hoax.” A bonus track called “The Lakes” will also be included on “8 deluxe CD editions and 8 deluxe vinyl editions that are available for one week” exclusively on Swift’s website.

Swift superfans were understandably shook by the surprise news, flooding social media Thursday morning with all-caps excitement, a slew of emojis and artwork from the forthcoming album, which is now available for preorder.
