The In-Season NBA Tournament is about to get real interesting. The Los Angeles Lakers are moving on with a shot at the top prize. Honor? No. A trophy? Absolutely not. Each winning player gets $500,000. And we have the best idea how the NBA can capitalize on this prize and possibly, get the players more money. Or a lot less.

His work as a documentary writer and producer has appeared on VH1, ESPN, Food Network, Biography and TLC. His short story, “Fried Chicken,” was included in the anthology “Another City” (City Lights, 2001). He started his career on The Times’ prep sports desk.
