Lake Elsinore man suspected of killing girlfriend is found in Las Vegas with toddler son
A Lake Elsinore resident suspected in the death of his girlfriend was taken into custody Tuesday after fleeing California with his 2-year-old son, officials said.
Celestine Stoot Jr., 42, was found in Las Vegas about 5:45 p.m. with his son, Celestine Stoot III, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Officials said Stoot would be booked into a Nevada County jail and then would be extradited to Riverside County.
They said the child was unharmed and would be reunited with his family.
The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert for the toddler on Monday evening, on behalf of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The child was last seen in Lake Elsinore on Sunday, CHP officials said.
The alert was issued for Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange, San Bernardino, Imperial and San Diego counties.
The boy’s father was wanted in connection with the death of Natasha Denise Barlow, according to the department, which said she was the boy’s mother. Authorities said Barlow, 43, was found Monday in the community of Lakeland Village.
Times staff writer Leila Miller contributed to this report.
