Want access to Yahoo? Facebook, Google IDs won’t cut it
Yahoo has announced that soon it will no longer let users access its services with their Facebook or Google accounts, meaning users will be required to create a Yahoo email address if they do not already have one.
The change will be rolled out over time. The first service to be affected will be Yahoo Sports Tourney Pick’Em, the company NCAA college basketball tournament, according to Reuters.
Later on, users of other services, such as Yahoo Fantasy Sports and Flickr, will also be required to have a Yahoo email address in order to gain access. The company did not say when it will stop allowing users to sign in with Facebook and Google.

The move “will allow us to offer the best personalized experience to everyone,” Yahoo said in a statement, according to Reuters.
Yahoo is likely removing Google and Facebook access in order to increase its numbers of Yahoo Mail users.
The company may face backlash by users who do not wish to change the way they access Yahoo services or do not want to use Yahoo Mail, a service which has been plagued by problems --including extended outages and hackings -- over the last couple of months.
