Will.i.am says his iPhone camera accessory will boost performance
Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas claims he’s got an accessory that’ll turn an iPhone “smartphone into a genius-phone.”
The musician told the Daily Telegraph that next week he will formally announce a camera that attaches to the Apple device and boosts its 8-megapixel camera into a 14-megapixel camera. The report says that should lead to pictures with more clarity and higher definition.
“We have our own sensor and a better flash,” will.i.am told the Telegraph. “You dock you phone into our device and it turns you smartphone into a genius-phone. We take over the camera.”
More details and images of the accessory should be released next week when the camera is announced at a London news conference Wednesday.
The report also says the camera will appear in the music video for “Scream and Shout,” a will.i.am song featuring Britney Spears. The video is to premiere during Wednesday’s episode of the “The X Factor.”
The Telegraph said the camera will be the first in a line of tech accessories by will.i.am called i.am+.
The camera will work for the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5, according to the report. If it also works with the iPhone 4S, that wouldn’t be surprising, because that version of the Apple smartphone has the same body as the iPhone 4.
