Verizon moves up Galaxy S 4 in-store launch to May 23

When it comes to tech, users normally only hear about delays, but this week, Verizon announced it will be moving up the release of its version of the Galaxy S 4 smartphone by one week.

The highly anticipated Samsung device was set to go on sale in stores for Verizon on May 30, but the New Jersey-based carrier announced it will now launch the phone next week on May 23.

Verizon is the last major U.S. carrier to launch the GS4, which has become available for customers of Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T over the last few weeks. Verizon users can pre-order the device online now, but it may end up shipping after the May 23 launch date.

Users can purchase the phone from Verizon for $250 with a two-year contract. They can also mail in a rebate to get $50 off. Verizon carries the device in white and black color options.

Verizon did not say why it was moving up the launch of the smartphone.

The move, however, is in direct contrast to T-Mobile and Sprint’s GS4 releases, which both ended up being delayed. The two carriers said supply shortages on Samsung’s end had forced them to move back their releases of the device. Samsung confirmed that issue, saying “overwhelming demand” was causing delays.
