Another milestone for Twitter: 200 million monthly active users
Twitter has reached another milestone.
In a tweet early Wednesday morning, the social network announced: “There are now more than 200M monthly active @twitter users. You are the pulse of the planet. We’re grateful for your ongoing support!”
To recap, San Francisco-based Twitter launched in 2006, and it was in September of 2011 that it reached the 100-million monthly active users mark.
QUIZ: What set the Internet on fire in 2012?
In March, while celebrating its sixth birthday, it revealed it had reached 140 million monthly active users.
How does Twitter compare to its competitors? We all know Facebook has more than 1 billion monthly active users.
Earlier this month, Google announced that Google+ has 135 million monthly active users. So Google+ trails Twitter by quite a bit, but it launched five years later in 2011.
