Samsung to launch Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet Thursday
Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet Thursday at a starting price of $499.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 is a follow-up to the Galaxy Note phone/tablet hybrid that launched earlier this year. The update sports a 10.1-inch LCD screen and comes with the S Pen, a Samsung stylus.
The new tablet will be available at $499 for a 16GB version and $549 for a 32GB version. For now, Samsung is selling only Wi-Fi versions of the Galaxy Note 10.1.
The device runs on a 1.4Ghz quad-core processor, has 2GB of RAM and is powered by Android Ice Cream Sandwich. It is supposed to receive an update to the Jelly Bean, the most recent Android operating system, later this year.
Camera-wise, the Galaxy Note 10.1 has both front- and back-facing cameras. The front is a 1.9 megapixel camera while on the back you get a 5-megapixel camera and an LED flash, according to TechCrunch.
Among the features included on the Galaxy Note is the ability to run two apps on the screen simultaneously, but unfortunately, the Verge says this feature only works with special Samsung apps.
The tablet will be available for purchase on Samsung’s website starting Thursday. It will also be available from retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Office Depot and others, according to InformationWeek.
