Moto X: Google’s next phone awaits your voice command

Google’s upcoming Motorola Moto X smartphone might be taking voice assistance to the next level by making it possible to control your device without ever touching it.

A video of the Motorola smartphone, purportedly made by Canadian cellphone carrier Rogers, leaked over the weekend and highlights some of the Moto X’s unique features.

The most intriguing of the features shown is that users can use their voice to activate the Moto X and give it commands. By simply talking to the phone, users can ask for directions or set calendar reminders and alarms without touching the phone.

This is similar to Siri on the iPhone, but unlike Siri, which requires that users hold down the iPhone’s menu button to activate, the Moto X’s voice assistant requires no physical activation.

Some users may find this feature helpful, especially with so many texting-and-driving accidents happening on the road, but others may not like the idea that the Moto X may always be listening.

Google has yet to officially unveil the features of the Moto X, and on Monday, Motorola said it could neither confirm the validity of the leaked video nor comment on it.

The Moto X is notable as it will be assembled in Texas. The leaked video said it will launch in August.
