First look at the LG G Flex curved-display smartphone [Video chat]
Curved-screen smartphones have arrived.
Join The Times’ Stacey Leasca and me as we take our first look at the G Flex, LG’s first smartphone to feature a display with a curve that runs from the top of the phone to the bottom, creating a bend that fits the phone nicely around users’ faces.
The LG G Flex is one of the first two smartphones to featured a curved screen. The other is the Samsung Round, which features a side-to-side curve.
But the G Flex is the device that’s been taking all the headlines. And the reason for that isn’t so much because of the phone’s unique screen, but rather its durability.

Videos have been popping up around the Web of users flattening the G Flex’s display without causing damage. The LG phone is also equipped with a self-healing coat that protects its shell when it is scratched.
By simply giving the device time to heal, scratches seem to fade.
Besides the curved screen and the self-healing coat, the LG G Flex also comes with most of the specs you’d expect out in a modern device.
There’s no word on when the device will go on sale in the U.S., but it was released in South Korea a few weeks ago.
