LG’s curved smartphone, the G Flex, has a lot of cool specs -- a 6-inch screen, a flexible plastic body that can be pushed flat without breaking and an ultra-thin, high-resolution display.

But the feature we’re most excited and curious about? LG’s claim that its new phone is made with a “self-healing” coating that protects the device from surface damage and can actually erase signs of scratches after they occur.

Although the notion of a self-healing phone seems implausible, YouTube personality and video producer Marques Brownlee posted a video online in which he runs the G Flex through a series of scratch tests and the phone appears to emerge relatively unscathed. Check it out above.

Previously, LG released its own video that showed a scratch on the backside of the phone disappearing after a few minutes.

LG unveiled the smartphone late last month, and said the smartphone would launch in South Korea this month.

In the U.S., AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint will reportedly carry the phone, although no release date or pricing info has been made available.
