Sen. John McCain thanks Apple for new feature
Apple this morning announced the latest versions of mobile and computer operating systems, and at least one user was happy with what he saw: Sen. John McCain.
The Republican from Arizona was a part of the hearing last month that questioned Apple CEO Tim Cook about the company’s tax practices. At one point in the hearing, McCain veered away from the topic and asked Cook about another matter.
“What I really wanted to ask is why the hell I have to keep updating the apps on my iPhone,” McCain asked, which can be seen on YouTube.
“Sir, we’re trying to make them better all the time,” Cook responded with a laugh.

The Apple CEO delivered on his response Monday by announcing new features for both iOS 7 and the new version of Mac OS X that will update users’ apps automatically in the background so that users don’t have to do it themselves.
The Arizona senator noticed the new features and tweeted his delight.

But the automatic updates weren’t the only connection that McCain had with Monday’s announcements. Apple also named the next version of its Mac OS X platform Mavericks, which is just one letter away from McCain’s own nickname, Maverick.
Coincidence? Afraid so. Apple says it named the platform after the popular Northern California surf spot.
