Jealous? Steve Wozniak already has the iPhone 5 -- two of them

A day before the iPhone 5 goes on sale in the U.S., Steve Wozniak already has two of them.

The Apple co-founder and veteran line sitter waited overnight at an Apple store in Queensland, Australia -- where he’s traveling for business and to attend a concert -- to be among the first in the world to buy the new smartphone.

Reached on his cellphone shortly before 9:30 a.m. local time in Australia, Wozniak said he’d bought the phones about an hour earlier and hadn’t yet tried them out. He got two 64GB models, one in white and one in black, because he couldn’t decide from photos which he liked better.

“I went in thinking I liked the black better, but now I’m thinking I like the white better,” he said. “They’re both so beautiful.”

Wozniak said he was most excited about the iPhone 5’s larger screen size. He also wanted to try Apple’s new EarPods to see if the revamped earbuds had superior sound quality.

“Good acoustics are very important to me,” he said.

“The Woz,” who co-founded Apple Computer with the late Steve Jobs in 1976, will have to wait a bit longer before he can test out his new purchases. He was on his way to a give a speech at a Queensland University of Technology forum for business leaders.

And don’t expect a snap judgment: Wozniak says he’ll need some time to really get to know his new phone.

“I want to use it for a while -- not half an hour, not a day. I want to use it for at least a week to see if it seems quicker and more responsive,” he said. “It’s hard to imagine because my current phone works so well already.”

Besides buying the new iPhone, the computer whiz and “Dancing with the Stars” alum found some time to catch a concert by folk singer Julia Stone during his trip to Australia.

“I don’t know if that was more exciting or the iPhone,” he said.
