Apple’s iPhone 5 to be 4G LTE compatible, report says
Expect the next iPhone to be 4G LTE compatible, a report released Friday said.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the flagship Apple smartphone will receive 4G LTE compatability, which is the latest generation of cellular technology and is supposed to provide faster mobile Internet speeds than previous technologies such as 3G.
QUIZ: Test your Apple knowledge
LTE connectivity has long been rumored to be heading to the iPhone, and the report Friday, which cites “people familiar with the matter,” is probably the closest we’ll come to getting official confirmation before an Apple event in San Francisco next Wednesday.
There, the Cupertino, Calif., tech company is expected to unveil its sixth-generation iPhone, which is rumored to have a larger screen and be thinner than previous generations of the device. The phone is also expected to have a smaller dock connector than its first five versions.
Another report early Friday said the next iPhone will likely cost the same as the iPhone 4S and start at $199 for a 16 GB version, going up from there.
