Hulu TV apps get a new look and a kids section
Hulu Plus has refined its user interface for Samsung Smart TVs, newer Blu-ray players and Roku devices. The online video streaming service said the changes make it easier to discover shows through a better search feature, larger thumbnails and slicker sorting.
In April, Hulu announced that 29% of the content consumed through the video streaming service is watched through its applications on television sets or devices connected to them. The growth in living room viewing could see a nice boost because Hulu also announced that Friday’s update would bring its child-friendly Hulu Kids content section to the living room devices.
The update will hit the Nintendo Wii soon. It follows up on one already made to the PlayStation 3 app.

Meanwhile, Hulu is mulling over seven bids from companies and private equity firms vying to take control of Hulu, which is co-owned by News Corp., Walt Disney Co. and Comcast Corp.’s NBCUniversal. The owners are seeking $1 billion from a sale, and they have said that they might end up holding on to Hulu.
The $7.99-a-month Hulu Plus subscription service had more than 4 million subscribers last month. Between subscriptions and ads, Hulu generated $695 million in revenue last year. Hulu’s chief competitor, Netflix, brought in $3.6 billion.
