After posting record-low quarterly profits, HTC is hoping for a big hit with the “One.”

The Taiwanese phone maker is set to release the HTC One later this month on AT&T; and Sprint. The smartphone is slated to be HTC’s flagship device, and early reviews of its hardware have been generally positive.

We just received a package containing our review unit and we’ll be unboxing it live during a Web video chat. Join us at 11 a.m. with your questions as The Times’ Michelle Maltais and I check out the HTC One.

HTC was initially hoping to release the One in March, but a shortage of camera parts forced the company to delay its launch to April. That has now set up the HTC One to go head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy S 4, which also comes out later this month. The Galaxy S 4 is the successor to 2012’s highly popular Galaxy S III.

HTC’s delay has hurt the company’s financial results. The company recorded just $2.8 million in profit for the first three months of 2013. That was down from about $148.3 million in the same quarter last year, and it is HTC’s lowest number since the company began recording profits in 2004, according to Reuters.

HTC will also begin selling the HTC First, or the so-called “Facebook phone,” this Friday. Surely, the company hopes that between those two devices, it can have a better second quarter.
