Google redesigns image search results for faster viewing
Google has redesigned the way it displays image search results, making them faster and easier for users to see.
The company announced the redesign this week. Users will start to see the new look in the next few days.
Under the new format, when a user chooses a picture from the search results, rather than displaying a new page with a preview of the image, Google will instead pull up a larger version of the picture along with its data underneath the thumbnail when a user scrolls the cursor over it. Users will also be able to use keyboard commands to flip through images.
QUIZ: How much do you know about Google?
“In the next few days, you’ll see image results displayed in an inline panel so it’s faster, more beautiful, and more reliable,” Google said in a blog post announcing the change.
The redesign appears to make the desktop version of Google image search results more similar to the mobile version. On smartphones, users can easily and quickly scroll through results without having to open up new pages, and that’s what Google has brought to its desktop results.
Along with larger images, Google said it will display the title of the page hosting the image, the website domain name and the image size.
