Google turns on Glass accessory store; items are pricey

Google has turned on an online accessories store for its Glass smartglasses, but users of the device shouldn’t expect to find anything cheap.

The store sells only four items for now, but it does give users a way to easily replace any of the items that come with their device should they lose one or more of them.

For $50, users can get an earbud, a cable and charger or a extra pouch for their device. For $75, users can get a clear shield visor, according to Glass user Nick Starr. Currently, the earbud and the cable-and-charger combo are out of stock.

Starr posted about the store on his Google+ account, and many were taken aback by the items’ prices.

“Apple prices, you have officially met your match,” one user commented.

Glass users can find the store online, but it is only available to users who are a part of Google’s “Explorers” program of early Glass users.

The company has not yet released the product to the general public, but earlier this year, it invited several thousand users to buy an early version for $1,500. Now, the company has begun to let those users invite up to three friends to join the pilot program and also buy a device for $1,500.
