When Dong Nguyen announced that he would be removing Flappy Bird from app stores last month, he did so through Twitter. So it is only fitting that he used a tweet to disclose that the popular mobile game would be returning.

Nguyen, the 29-year-old Vietnamese independent developer behind the popular game, was asked by a fan on Twitter if the game would be coming back.

“Yes. But not soon,” Nguyen responded in a tweet.

Nguyen’s response came after Rolling Stone magazine reported last week that Nguyen was considering returning the game to the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Before being removed in February, Flappy Bird had become the top free game for both the iOS and Android platforms.

Users play the game by tapping on the screen of their device with their fingers to navigate a small round bird through a series of deadly pipes. The point of the game is to achieve the highest score possible.

Nguyen responded to another fan by saying that the coming version of Flappy Bird won’t be exactly the same as before.

“It will not be the original game but a better one. I keep my word,” Nguyen tweeted.
