Facebook unveils Paper, a new way to view stories
Facebook on Thursday unveiled Paper, an upcoming iPhone app that offers users a new way to view stories posted by their friends and the pages they follow.
Paper is essentially a personalized-magazine app that lets users add or delete sections based on topics that interest them.
The first section in Paper is content drawn from users’ Facebook News Feeds. Unlike on the Facebook app or website, News Feed posts displayed in the Paper app appear in an uncluttered, aesthetically pleasing, full-screen design that’s free of advertisements -- for now.

Besides viewing content in a new way, Paper also allows users to post directly to Facebook. Before publishing, users can see a preview of what their story will look like when posted on the Paper app.
“Paper makes storytelling more beautiful with an immersive design and full-screen, distraction-free layouts,” Facebook said in a statement. “We’ve also made it easier to craft and share beautiful stories of your own.”
In many ways, Paper resembles Flipboard, a magazine app that’s been around for numerous years. Flipboard also draws content from users Facebook accounts and their interests as well as their Twitter accounts.
Paper is one of numerous upcoming apps from the company’s Facebook Creative Labs, the company said. Paper will be available for iPhone users Feb. 3. Currently, there are no plans to bring the app to Android users.
