Facebook launches Pages Manager app
Facebook has launched a new iPhone app dedicated for the use of Facebook Pages.
Pages Manager is an app built to allow people to more easily handle their fan pages from their smartphone.
The app has not yet reached Apple’s App Store in the U.S., but it has rolled out in New Zealand, according to 9 to 5 Mac, which says the app will arrive in the states soon.
“I can confirm that this is an app that Facebook is testing that helps owners of small to medium pages more easily manage their Facebook presence. No other details to share at the moment,” said Kristin Swenson, a spokeswoman representing Facebook.
Facebook’s latest app, which rolls out on the eve of the company’s IPO, is built like its main app. It also includes the Facebook Insights feature that is available to page managers on the social network’s desktop site. Insights on the app shows how many people a fan page reaches as well as the number of people sharing content from the page.
9 to 5 Mac did not mention whether Android, Blackberry or Windows Phone versions of the app are also in the works.
