Apple looking at 46- to 55-inch displays for TV?
A report coming out of Taiwan says Apple is looking at flat-panel displays ranging from 46 to 55 inches for the company’s rumored TV set.
The report by Focus Taiwan News Channel says the Cupertino tech company has begun testing televisions with Apple supplier Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., which is also known as Foxconn. The report follows another from last week by the Wall Street Journal saying Apple had begun testing the TV with suppliers.
But although tests have begun, the Taiwanese report, citing an unnamed Hon Hai source, says an Apple TV set probably will not ship next year.
QUIZ: Test your Apple knowledge
While an Apple iTV might not be close, we might see “Apple TV-related products” at the Consumer Electronics Show next month in Las Vegas, the report said.
The Apple TV set has long been a rumored product, and while Apple has never announced a television, it continually teases that it will.
Most recently, Chief Executive Tim Cook told NBC’s Brian Williams that television was an area of “high interest” for Apple but didn’t elaborate.
