Apple sets Oct. 22 for press event; new iPad, MacBook Pro expected
It’s official: Apple’s next event will be Oct. 22.
The Cupertino tech giant sent out invitations to the media for the event, where Apple is expected to announce a variety of new products. The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, and as with all Apple events, it will begin at 10 a.m.
“We still have a lot to cover,” reads the invitation.
Headlining the event will likely be a refreshed line of iPad models. Apple is expected to unveil the fifth generation of the iPad, which may feature a new design similar to that of the iPad Mini. And while on the topic of the iPad Mini, that device may be updated to include Apple’s retina high-resolution screen.

Apple is also expected to announce a refreshed line of its MacBook Pro laptops, according to some reports.
The company may also use the event to release or announce a release date for OS X Mavericks, the latest version of its computer operating system.
Other rumors say Apple may also unveil a new Apple TV, which would make sense considering Roku has recently refreshed its digital TV receiver, Google launched the Chromecast just two months ago and Amazon has been said to be readying to enter the market as well.
