Apple offering free computer coding classes as part of initiative

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to write computer software, you can now sign up for a free one-hour class at your local Apple Store.

The tech giant will be holding introductory computer science classes at its retail stores Wednesday as part of a national initiative called “Hour of Code” that aims to get all people to learn basic coding.

“Visit your favorite Apple Retail Store on December 11 for a free one hour workshop designed to demystify code and show that anyone can learn the basics of computer programming,” Apple’s website says.

“Hour of Code” is an initiative aimed at kids and teenagers. The organization behind the initiative is Code.org, a nonprofit that is dedicated to expanding computer science education.

“The Hour of Code campaign aims to demystify computer science for students across the country by taking them through introductory tutorials that can be completed online, on a smartphone, or even unplugged,” Code.org said in a statement.
