Apple adds ‘Selfie’ section to App Store
Apple appears to be the latest entity to jump on the selfie bandwagon, adding a new section to its App Store dedicated solely to apps that are ideal for taking the self-portrait-style pictures.
The Cupertino, Calif., tech company appears to have added a featured section, titled “Sharing Selfies,” Thursday afternoon. The section is used to promote various apps, including Snapchat, Frontback, Everyday and Picr.
The section can be found in both the mobile and desktop versions of the Apple App Store for iOS devices.

Selfies, or photos that smartphone users take of themselves, have been all the rage over the last year.
The term was selected as Oxford Dictionary’s word of the year in 2013, it was the star of the Oscars this month thanks to some help from Ellen DeGeneres, and users around the world are taking them nonstop, even in the face of near-tragedy.
Apple’s addition of a selfie section is simply the latest indication that the term is here to stay.
