Fixing cracked glass at Apple’s 5th Avenue store may cost $450,000
Fixing a shattered iPhone screen can put a small dent in your wallet. Fixing a shattered glass panel at an Apple store can cost a small fortune.
One of the 15 glass panels that make up the exterior of Apple’s flagship retail shop on 5th Avenue in New York City was shattered recently when a snow blower ran into it after a snowstorm.
Although the 32-foot-tall panel is still standing, the encounter with the snow blower left if full of cracks, according to pictures.

The 15 panels were put in place a few years ago as part of a renovation that cost Apple nearly $7 million. 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman did the math and estimates that it could cost Apple $450,000 to fix the broken piece of glass.
The 5th Avenue location is the most well-known Apple store and stays open 24 hours a day. Reports say that although the panel has been shattered, the store has stayed open.
