Sting’s NYC digs cost a field of gold
Here’s your chance to live like a rock star. Sting and Trudie Styler have listed their New York City penthouse for $56 million. Set in a limestone-clad building along 43 feet of Central Park frontage, the duplex penthouse was designed by modern traditionalist architect Robert A.M. Stern.
Sting’s duplex takes in Central Park and city views from windows on two levels and from the nearly 400-square-foot terrace.
The 5,417-square-foot residence features a foyer with a winding staircase, an open fireplace that serves as a room divider, three bedrooms, a home office and 10-foot ceilings. There’s a spiral staircase in the kitchen for midnight-snack access to the master suite, which features dual dressing rooms.
Among community amenities are white-gloved building staff, a landscaped motor court, garage parking and a 14,000-square-foot fitness center with a sky-lit lap pool.
Sting, 65, has received 16 Grammys as a soloist and member of the new wave band the Police. Among his solo hits are “Fortress Around Your Heart,” “Fields of Gold” and “When We Dance.”
Suzun J. Bennett of Sotheby’s International Realty is the listing agent.
Changing their day-to-day reality
Some celebs just seem to move around every couple years. Among them are television personality and producer Jack Osbourne and his wife, Lisa. The pair recently put their traditional home in Studio City on the market for $3.449 million.
The New England-inspired spread, built in 2014, sits behind gates on more than a quarter-acre of grounds. Long on curb appeal, the two-story features horizontal and shake siding, white trim and a covered porch near the front door. Sets of arched windows line the front of the house, adding to the East Coast vibe.
A formal dining room, a living room with a fireplace, a home theater, an office, five bedrooms and seven bathrooms are within the more than 5,600 square feet of interior space.
Outdoors, there’s a covered patio with a fireplace for entertaining. A swimming pool and spa, lawns and a barbecue island complete the grounds.
Osbourne, the son of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, has appeared on “The Osbournes” reality show and “Dancing With the Stars.” As a producer, the 31-year-old has credits that include the television series “Alpha Dogs,” “Osbournes Reloaded” and “Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour.”
He and his wife bought the house three years ago for $3.2 million, records show.
Enjoying the repeat business is agent Jonah Wilson of Hilton & Hyland, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate.
A Valley home for leader of the pack
Cesar Millan of “Dog Whisperer” fame has found a new place to sit and stay in the San Fernando Valley, buying a home in a leafy Encino neighborhood for about $2.783 million.
His new house, built last year, combines elements of the East Coast-inspired traditional and farmhouse styles with white board-and-batten siding and deep eaves.
Within the 5,400 square feet of open-plan space are a living room with a fireplace, a formal dining room, a center-island kitchen, a den and an office. A pass-through connects the kitchen and dining room areas. Tucked beneath the staircase is a temperature-controlled wine room.
In the master suite, a free-standing two-way fireplace sits between the bedroom and a sitting room. There are five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms in all.
A saltwater swimming pool, a built-in barbecue, lawns and landscaping fill out the backyard, which may by now be filled with dogs too.
The listing agent was Jodie Francisco of Dilbeck Real Estate. Lisa Gaber of L.A. Property Investment represented Millan, who made the purchase through a family trust, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
Millan, 47, gained fame as the self-taught dog-training star of the television series “Dog Whisperer With Cesar Millan,” which aired from 2004 to 2012. He currently hosts and produces the Nat Geo Wild series “Cesar Millan’s Dog Nation” with son Andre.
Soccer player kicks back in Encino
Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Jermaine Jones has put his place to kick it in Encino on the market at $4.495 million.
Jones bought the gated Mediterranean estate from reality show stars Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott in 2011 for $2.5 million. If the place looks familiar, that’s because it was regularly featured on “Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood” (2007-11).
Today, bold colors, wallpaper and murals enliven the living spaces. A cabana with a bar/kitchen and bathroom was added in the backyard and sits at the end of the swimming pool.
Included in the more than 6,700 square feet of interior space are a center-island kitchen, formal living and dining rooms, six bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms. The great room is lined with French doors that lead to a covered patio and the third of an acre of grounds.
Jones, 35, joined the Galaxy this year after three seasons in Major League Soccer with the Colorado Rapids and the New England Revolution. He has been a member of the U.S. Men’s National Team since 2010.
Craig Knizek, James Hirsch and Denise Snanoudj, all with the Agency, are the listing agents.
