Marvel Comics wizard Stan Lee sees action in the Bird Streets

Stan Lee of Marvel Comics fame has started the year off with a bang, selling his home in the Bird Streets area of Hollywood Hills West for $3.23 million.

The ivy-wrapped traditional-style house, built in 1939, sits on a corner lot and is entered through a garden courtyard.

Nearly 5,000 square feet of white-walled interiors feature a vaulted foyer that opens to a step-down living room with built-in bookshelves and a fireplace. Dark hardwood floors, beamed ceilings and crown molding lend a classic look to the two-story floor plan.

Other common areas include a chandelier-topped dining room, two offices, a breakfast area and a chef’s kitchen complete with a center island and a pair of wine chillers.

The master bedroom has a fireplace, separate walk-in closets and his and hers bathrooms for a total of five bedrooms, six full bathrooms and a powder room.

Outdoors, fenced and hedged grounds contain a trellis-topped patio and a swimming pool. Elsewhere is an outdoor dining area.

Lee bought the house four years ago for $3.4 million, records show.

Faye Bogari of Bogari Realty was the listing agent. Josh Altman of Douglas Elliman represented the buyer.

The 93-year-old Lee saw quite a bit of action in the real estate market last year, buying a new $4.4-million home in Hollywood Hills West and selling another property in the area for $2.8 million.

The comic-book giant is the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics and serves as an executive producer on numerous Marvel films and television series. As a comic-book writer, he co-created such iconic superheroes as Iron Man, Spider-Man and Thor.
