Former Trojan Matt Leinart buys a Manhattan Beach home where he can play ball
Former professional football player and Heisman-winning quarterback Matt Leinart has bought a home in Manhattan Beach for $2.245 million.
Located near Mira Costa High School, Leinart’s new two-story home has about 3,600 square feet — quite a bit more room than the nearby 2,135-square-foot home that he sold last year.
Fun features include a lighted basketball half-court, a tetherball pole, a swimming pool and a spa. A patch of grass and a two-car garage sit off the front of the house, built in 1995.
Among other details of note are vaulted ceilings, chandelier fixtures and wide-plank wood floors. A living room with a fireplace opens to a formal dining room and an adjacent center-island kitchen.
A great room, an office, five bedrooms and four bathrooms are also within the home. The master suite, with walk-in closets, a fireplace and Jacuzzi tub, has windows that overlook the walled and hedged grounds.
The property came up for sale in April for $2.299 million. It previously changed hands more than a decade ago for $1.419 million, records show.
Jan Rhees of Partners Trust Real Estate was the listing agent. Nicholas Schneider of Palm Realty Boutique repped Leinart.
Leinart, 32, was a standout at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana and later won a Heisman Trophy as a member of the USC Trojans. The former first-round NFL draft pick retired in 2014 after six seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders.
He currently works as a studio analyst for Fox Sports’ college football coverage.
