‘Today Show’ host Matt Lauer sells Southampton home for $3.5 million
After scooping up actor Richard Gere’s Sag Harbor estate earlier this year, Matt Lauer has parted ways with a property of his own. The longtime “Today Show” host has sold his waterfront home in Southampton, N.Y., for $3.5 million, Variety reported.
Sitting on three-quarters of an acre, the estate includes 85 feet of frontage with a private dock. A raised deck extends from the rear of the home and overlooks the Wooley Pond inlet.
The house, built in 1994, has light hardwood floors, exposed beams and a whitewashed-brick fireplace in the living room, according to Zillow. Other living spaces include an eat-in kitchen, an enclosed sun porch, three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The 1,800-square-foot cottage came to market in July for $3.95 million, records show. Susan Breitenbach of Corcoran Group Real Estate was the listing agent.
Lauer, 58, was in buy-and-sell mode for much of 2016. In addition to buying Gere’s six-acre estate in North Haven, N.Y., he put his own Sag Harbor estate on the market for $17.995 million. The 25-acre property with a swimming pool and tennis court is now priced at $16.995 million, according to online marketing materials.
The television journalist and host joined NBC’s “Today” in 1994 and has co-anchored the show since 1997. He is among the highest-paid news broadcasters in the business, earning $25 million last year, according to Forbes.
