Designer Marc Ware puts his modern estate in Palm Springs up for sale
Beverly Hills entrepreneur and designer Marc Ware, founder of the sportswear company Hot Cotton, has put his modern estate in Palm Springs on the market for $8.95 million.
Designed by Don Boss, a former associate of modernist architect A. Quincy Jones, the dramatic residence is distinguished by an over-arching elemental aesthetic: Walls of floor-to-ceiling glass bring the native landscapes, palms and gardens by landscape architect Steve Martino inside. Seven negative-edge swimming pools surround the home, creating the illusion of floating on water.
A formal entry, living, dining rooms and family rooms, chef’s and catering kitchens and a den are within the 8,060 square feet of open-plan space. The “spine,” a long hallway adorned with floating fiberglass light fixtures, invites light while dividing the interiors.
The master suite has a fireplace, dual vanities and a steam shower. Two guest suites, each with private patios and mountain views, reside in a separate wing for a total of five bedrooms and six bathrooms.
Outdoors, a mix of fire elements, sculptural light fixtures and the surrounding pools make up 1.5 acres of resort-like grounds. A large shade structure, a 9-foot outdoor fireplace and a lighted tennis court and amphitheater round out the desert setting.
TTK Represents, HK Lane — Christie’s International Real Estate, holds the listing.
