U.S. men’s soccer coach Juergen Klinsmann gives his Newport Beach home the boot

Juergen Klinsmann, head coach of the U.S. men’s national soccer team, has sold his home in Newport Beach for $2 million.

The single-story home on a corner lot in Newport Heights came to market earlier this year for $2.399 million and was listed at $2.099 million prior to the sale. Records show the 52-year-old manager and former German national player bought the property four years ago for $1.476 million.

The house, built in the 1950s and recently renovated, has classic, Mayberry-like appeal with a white picket fence that surrounds a large lawn. A flagstone pathway leads up to a covered porch and a Dutch front door flanked on either side by large picture windows.

Inside, the 3,000-square-foot house includes a formal entry, living and dining rooms, a family room and an updated kitchen. A two-sided fireplace is shared by the living and family room areas. The master suite has a walk-in closet and a soaking tub for a total of four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms.

Sliding glass doors open to a large patio that sits between two wings of the home. Formal landscaping, mature trees and a two-car garage complete the setting.

Klinsmann has coached the U.S. men’s national team since 2011. As a player, he won a FIFA World Cup in 1990 with West Germany and, in 1996, a European Football Championship with Germany.
