John Legend sells his laid-back home in Hollywood Hills
Singer-songwriter John Legend and his wife, model Chrissy Teigen, have sold their Hollywood Hills home for $2 million.
Set on more than a quarter-acre on a cul-de-sac, the Asian-inspired contemporary was built in 1961 and remodeled. Walls of glass connect the nearly 2,000 square feet of living space with the home’s expansive deck, gardens and fountains. Steps lead up to a hot tub. There’s also an outdoor bathtub.
Etched teak cabinetry, textured stone floors and rain gutters insulated to reduce noise are among the custom features. The home has an open-plan living area with beamed cathedral ceilings, a center-island kitchen, three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. One of the bedrooms was in use as a recording studio.
Legend, who turns 36 on Dec. 28, has won nine Grammys, including three in 2010 for writing the R&B song “Shine,” for performance on “Hang on in There” and for best R&B album (“Wake Up”).
Teigen, 29, appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated this year. The couple married last year.
The property last changed hands in 2007 for $1.512 million, public records show.
Steven Moritz and Bruno Abisror of Sotheby’s International Realty were the listing agents. Sara Reichling and Joe Reichling of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer.
