Retired baseball slugger Jermaine Dye looks to crush a home sale in San Diego

Jermaine Dye is gearing up for another run at San Diego’s luxury home market. The retired baseball all-star has listed his custom estate in the Santaluz golf course community for sale at $4.4 million. A year ago he sold another home in Poway for $4.2 million.

Set on a three-quarter-acre lot, the Tuscan-style villa has the highest vantage in the neighborhood and views extending as far as the ocean.

A romantic courtyard with olive trees and a circular fountain sits off front of the 2010-built home. Inside, two levels of living feature Brazilian hardwood floors, crown molding and stone archways. The interior is Italianate in style.

Amenities of the 6,655-square-foot house include a theater room, wood-paneled office and a bonus room with a wet bar. There are five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, plus a guest suite with a separate entrance. The secluded master suite has a private spa.

A loggia stretches across the home’s backside, providing an outdoor living area that sits adjacent to a swimming pool and spa. Also on the grounds is a putting green and a fire pit.

Dye, 44, spent time with the Braves, Royals, Athletics and White Sox during his decorated MLB career, winning a World Series title and MVP with the Sox in 2005. He cranked 325 home runs before announcing his retirement in 2011.

He bought the house in 2015 for $3.75 million, records show.
