Lakers trustee Janie Buss lands a newly built contemporary in Manhattan Beach
It pays to be a Buss.
Janie Buss, part-owner in the Los Angeles Lakers and younger sister of team President Jeanie Buss, has bought a new contemporary home in Manhattan Beach for $6.5 million, records show.
The multilevel house, designed and built in 2017 by Steve Lazar of Lazar Design+Build, sits about three blocks from the water. There are ocean views from the third-floor living spaces and a rooftop deck that adjoins a lounge/bonus room. A four-stop elevator services each floor.
The roughly 4,200 square feet of living space has white oak floors, a split-level family room with a fireplace and a modern chef’s kitchen with stainless steel appliances and Caesarstone countertops. A formal dining room, theater room, wine cellar, four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms complete the floor plan.
Other amenities include a three-car garage with an electric vehicle charging station.
Mike Michalski and Sachi Fujita of RE/MAX Estate Properties held the listing, according to the Multiple Listing Service. Uni Mayesh of First Manhattan Realtors represented Buss.
Buss serves as the Lakers’ director of charitable services. Last year, she replaced Jim Buss as one of the four co-trustees through which the Buss family own 66% of the team.
