Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin buy a John Lautner in Malibu
Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband, Chris Martin of Coldplay, have purchased a John Lautner-designed house in Malibu for $14 million.
Set on a secluded acre of land and surrounded by tropical landscaping, the single-story post-and-beam house was built in 1972.
Architectural details include angled walls and windows, a triangular fireplace that juts into the living room and a teardrop-shaped granite-topped island in the kitchen.
Among features of the 3,650-square-foot house are heated sandstone floors, walls of glass, stainless-steel appliances, a library/study, an office, a gym, four bedrooms and three bathrooms. There is an outdoor steam room and shower, a tennis court and a swimming pool.

Martin, 37, is frontman for Coldplay and one of its founders. The band has won Grammys for the albums “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends,” “Clocks” and “A Rush of Blood to the Head.”
Stephanie Smith of Coldwell Banker was the listing agent. Susan Perryman of Hilton & Hyland/Christie’s International Real Estate represented Paltrow.
