A former home of film comic Groucho Marx is on the market in Hollywood Hills West for $4.549 million.

Marx, who bought the Traditional on Sunset Plaza Drive in 1946, isn’t the only famous name in the chain of ownership. Horror film producer Irwin Yablans, known for the “Halloween” films and “Hell Night,” is another former resident.

Built in 1935, the two-story residence has been renovated and expanded to about 3,700 square feet of living space. A broad porch punctuated by dormers and a red front door give the hedged and gated home a classic look from the street.

Formal living and dining rooms, a den/library, a wet bar, four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a powder room are among the living spaces. An updated center-island kitchen opens to a family room with a wall of built-ins.

An office/writer’s nook sits off the main master suite and has a view of the grounds.

Outdoors, a brick patio surrounds a swimming pool with a spa and waterfall feature. A sauna/steam room with a shower sits adjacent to the pool. Elsewhere on the property is a two-car garage.

The home last changed hands in 2009 for $2.266 million, records show.

Brent Watson and Charlie Schuster of Compass hold the listing.

Marx, whose real name was Julius Henry Marx, made more than a dozen movies as part of the Marx Brothers. He died in 1977 at age 86.
