Hot Property: Ex-Angel Gary Matthews Jr. lists Corona del Mar home
Retired Major League Baseball outfielder Gary Matthews Jr. has listed his home in Corona del Mar for sale at $3.55 million.
Occupying a raised lot in the Cameo Highlands community, the single-level home was built in 1961 and has an entertainer’s courtyard with a pool and spa. The 3,000-square-foot home has ocean views extending as far as Catalina and an open floor plan that includes three bedrooms, three full baths, a den and an office.
Exposed beamed-ceilings, French doors, a gourmet kitchen, and a master suite with a large cedar-lined closet are among its features.
Records show that Matthews paid $3.05 million for the property in February 2007, three months after signing a five-year, $50-million free-agent contract with the Angels.
Matthews, 39, played for nine teams in 12 years as a major leaguer, making one All-Star team (2006). He is the son of former baseball player and broadcaster Gary Matthews.
The listing is held by Mark Taylor of HOM Sotheby’s International Realty.
