Former Chargers punter Darren Bennett seeks a buyer for Carlsbad home
Darren Bennett, the retired football punter who made two Pro Bowls with the San Diego Chargers from 1994 to 2003, has listed his home in Carlsbad for sale at $1.299 million.
Built in 2003, the Mission-style home on a cul-de-sac has a resort-like vibe with palm-topped grounds, a built-in barbecue and a swimming pool and spa with a waterslide and waterfall feature.

Within the 3,405 square feet of living space are formal living and dining rooms, a family room with a fireplace and a center-island kitchen. The master suite has a sitting room and a large soaking tub for a total of five bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Sliding glass doors set off the main floor open to a wide covered patio and the swimming pool and spa. Raised sitting areas, a palapa-covered bar and an outdoor fireplace complete the setting. There’s also a three-car garage.
Bennett, who owns other property in San Diego County, bought the house in 2006 for $1.1 million, records show.
Katrina Dodson of Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty has the listing.
Bennett, 50, rose to fame as an Australian rules footballer and later played 11 seasons for the Chargers and Minnesota Vikings. One of the best of his generation, he was voted to the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team and inducted into the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame in 2012.
