Chris Brown’s former Hollywood Hills home retains its colorful artwork

A onetime home of Chris Brown has come on the market in Hollywood Hills for $2.695 million — looking every bit as colorful as it did when the R&B singer owned the property two years ago.

During Brown’s ownership, artists such as Los Angeles-based Teddy Kelly were commissioned to decorate the modern home in cartoon-like artwork that remains, according to listing agent Manuela Villa of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. Brown also contributed his own personal street art, painting parts of the living room, kitchen and garage.

“[The current owner] loved Chris’ expression through his art, so she preserved it all,” Villa said.

The house earned notoriety in 2013 after Brown’s neighbors complained about murals painted on the home’s exterior. Those 8-foot-tall, neon-colored paintings drew a citation from the city and were eventually removed before the singer sold the property the following year for $1.69 million.

Designed by architect Jay Vanos and built in 2008, the four-story house features clean lines, new hardwood floors and vaulted ceilings throughout the 2,800 square feet of open-plan space. An elevator and floating glass-and-wood staircases connect each level.

Among common areas is an updated kitchen that opens to a two-story living room with a fireplace. A lofted space sits above the living room.

In the master suite, a wall of glass divides the bedroom and an updated bathroom with a red freestanding soaking tub. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms in all.

Outdoors, the grounds center on a saltwater swimming pool and spa that were redone by the current owners. Cabanas, an outdoor projection screen, stone waterfalls also lie within the grounds. A custom dog run added by Brown sits at the top of the property.
