L.A. Kings’ Anze Kopitar nets two homes in $10 million deal
Anze Kopitar, star center and co-captain for the L.A. Kings, and his wife, Ines, have paid $10 million for two homes in the sand section of Manhattan Beach.
On a street near the Strand that leads down to the beach, the two adjoining properties include a Cape Cod-inspired main residence, a two-bedroom bungalow and garage space for eight vehicles on a combined lot of about 5,400 square feet.
The main home, built in 1997, spans three stories with a chef’s kitchen, a media/living room, four bedrooms, four fireplaces and five bathrooms in just over 4,600 square feet. Ocean-facing balconies sit off of the second and third levels.
On the main floor, telescoping doors open onto a tiered patio with a barbecue area and an outdoor fire pit.
The bungalow, set back from the walk street, has a kitchen, a living room and an ocean-view balcony in slightly more than 800 square feet.
Kopitar, a two-time NHL All-Star, has led the Kings in scoring in each of the last seven seasons. The 27-year-old currently has six goals and seven assists through 28 games this year.
The two properties originally came to market together in July at $10 million, public records show. Lauren Forbes of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage was the listing agent. June Emerson of South Bay Brokers represented the Kopitars in the sale, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
Kopitar’s purchase follows teammate Marian Gaborik’s recent multimillion-dollar buy in the area. The left wing, who agreed to a $34 million extension with the Kings in June, paid $5.55 million for a wood-lined contemporary, located across from Kopitar’s new properties, in September.
