What to expect from T-Mobile on Tuesday: IPhone details and more
Users hoping for a T-Mobile iPhone may not have to wait much longer.
The Seattle-based carrier has an event planned Tuesday at 8 a.m. PDT where it might finally announce that it will carry the popular Apple smartphone.
But that may not be all that T-Mobile could announce. The carrier has been working on a series of big changes that are expected to be announced at the event. Here’s what users should expect.
The T-Mobile iPhone
Late last year, T-Mobile announced it had reached an agreement to start selling Apple products in 2013, and CEO John Legere held up the iPhone while talking about devices T-Mobile would carry.
It would make sense for T-Mobile to announce the iPhone on Tuesday and let consumers know when they can begin purchasing it. If it waits much longer, it may not make sense for T-Mobile to start selling the iPhone until the next version of the device comes out, which isn’t expected to happen until this summer at the earliest.
BlackBerry Z10 details
As recently as last week, T-Mobile said it will start selling the BlackBerry Z10 this month, and with less than a week left in March, there’s no better time to announce when the phone will be available from T-Mobile and for how much.
T-Mobile’s LTE network
T-Mobile has said users can expect its LTE network to go live this year, and now, many expect the carrier to turn its LTE network live on Tuesday. In fact, OpenSignal, an Android app, has said it’s already detected T-Mobile’s LTE network in some cities, and a leaked document obtained by TmoNews says the LTE network will go live in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Houston, Washington, D.C., Kansas City and Baltimore on Tuesday. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and BlackBerry Z10 are expected to be among the first devices that will support the new network.
